Job Description

At Craigcare our mission is to serve our residents and care recipients in a manner which will enhance their quality of life and to provide quality services in a warm and caring environment.

We are currently seeking an experienced Chef to join and lead the dedicated Catering team at our Mornington facility on a part time basis.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining Craigcare’s Food Safety Program,
  • Following Craigcare’s recipes as per menu,
  • Preparing, cooking and serving meals to residents,
  • Conducting continuous improvement activities to enhance catering services to residents, and
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with the Facility Manager as well as senior managers.

As the successful applicant, you will possess the following:

  • Chef Qualifications or a Trade Cook certificate,
  • Basic and Advanced Food Handling Courses,
  • Food Safety’s Supervisor certificate,
  • Knowledge of OH&S,
  • Experience in menu planning,
  • Previous experience in managing a large kitchen in all aspects of a kitchen operation,
  • Ability to work well within a team environment,
  • Strong leadership skills,
  • Excellent communication and written skills,
  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft Word,
  • Experience within a Residential Aged Care environment (desirable),
  • Knowledge of the Aged Care Accreditation Standards, and
  • Knowledge of modified diets and thickened fluids.

All successful applicants are required to supply a current National Police Clearance (dated within 3 years).
