Delivering services from more than 30 sites across Melbourne’s south east suburbs, Wallara prides itself on being a leader in the sector and setting new benchmarks in person centered service.

Sages Cottage in Baxter is Wallara’s flagship site for the Frankston/Mornington Peninsula region. Thanks to an amazing group of volunteers, the 38 acre community farm property with manicured gardens has been transformed into a truly unique training base for young adults to build their independent living skills plus learn some farm skills like animal husbandry and horticulture. To learn more about this special property please go to WallaraTV on YouTube and watch the Sages Cottage video. 

Due to increasing demand for places, two full time opportunities have become available to commence mid-January 2016:

  1. Team Leader – the senior Support Coach for the site with 3 direct reports providing support to approximately 24 talented young people. Will need sound leadership skills and proven abilities to coach and develop staff.
  2. Support Coach – join a team of coaching staff who are passionate about helping young people with different abilities develop their life skills and connect with their local community.

Staff will use person-centred approaches to achieve outcomes. You will be a team-player supporting your team to ensure service user’s support needs are met. You will be committed to working with people with disabilities and achieving their service needs which focuses on independence, empowerment and community inclusion.

To be successful in these roles you will possess the following skills & attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with challenging behaviours
  • Practical understanding of the issues faced by service users, their families & staff
  • Promote community inclusion & person centred support that exceeds standards & is delivered within the available resources
  • Ability to build & maintain positive relationships
  • Excellent time management, exceptional service delivery and be able to advocate on behalf of service users
  • Good computer and reporting (documentation) skills
