The company

SomerCare is known as the first resort in aged-care on the Mornington Peninsula. Our client’s100-bed facility provides superior care in impeccable, modern surrounds, all set against the backdrop of the picturesque Peninsula, with its proximity to beaches, vineyards, olive groves and seaside villages.

The facility is currently undergoing construction work to accommodate 30 additional beds, due to open in April 2015, including an increased access to secured, ‘memory support’ accommodation.

The role

The Facility Manager will be reporting directly to the Executive Officer and will be responsible for the successful management of the day to day operations of the facility.

You will be the inspirational leader of a team of professionals in the delivery of quality care, lifestyle and accommodation for residents of SomerCare.
Your main tasks will be:

  • To be responsible for all aspects of the day to day operations of the Facility.
  • To lead a team of professionals in the delivery of quality care, lifestyle and accommodation for residents of SomerCare.
  • To create and maintain SomerCare as a destination of choice for elder people in need of support and care.
  • To maintain and create programs which identify SomerCare as a key service in the local community, and to actively communicate these services to sources of potential customers.
  • To facilitate mentor and coach the growth and development of our staff in an environment which provides a quality experience in their working lives.
  • To have a major role in the preparation and approval of the annual budget and to ensure budgets are met on a monthly and annual basis.
  • To assist the Executive Officer in the development and implementation of the strategic direction and strategic plan for SomerCare.
  • To actively lead and support others to implement the principles of Continuous Quality Improvement to establish an environment of organisational earning and continuous improvement.

The skills we are looking for

If you already have a comprehensive knowledge of the Health and/or Aged Care Sector and of current nursing professional workforce issues;

If “Living Longer Living Better”, “ACFI”, “industry benchmarking”, “strategic planning”, “continuous quality improvement”, “OH&S” are terms that are part of your everyday vocabulary; and

If you are a dynamic, experienced, Registered Nurse who has demonstrated his/her competence in an aged care environment.
