If you’ve worked in Family Violence before, you’ll be aware that one in four Australian women has experienced physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner, and that on average, one Australian woman is killed each week by a current of former partner. That’s 52 women a year! Family Violence is a major cause of homelessness, financial hardship and poor mental and physical health for women, and more than half of these women have children in their care.
Responding to 11 recommendations from the Royal Commission into Family Violence, the Family Violence Protection Amendment Bill 2017 will increase the protections for women and children in response to Family Violence.
We are working with a well-known organisation with a focus on providing safety and support for women and children and they are growing their Bayside Peninsula Family Violence Program.
