  • Part time (0.6) contract role until 30 June 2017

Our Financial security team is aimed at strengthening communities via financial inclusion frameworks, models and advocacy.  Financial security programs include financial counselling and the microfinance programs of NILS® (No Interest Loans Scheme), StepUP and AddsUp loans.

About the role:

We require an experienced Financial Counsellor to undertake case work and provide information and options to low income and vulnerable families and individuals who are experiencing financial difficulties.

You must have a comprehensive understanding of the needs of those from culturally diverse and indigenous backgrounds, disabilities and low levels of literacy.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Hold a Diploma of Community Services (Financial Counselling).
  • Have demonstrated experience in intake, assessment and case work, and providing advice to clients in relation to resolving financial hardship.
  • Be knowledgeable of legislation and government policies relevant to financial services and counselling.
  • Have demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with other workers both, internally and externally, and independently as required.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, communication (written, verbal & presentations), numeracy/financial literacy, negotiation and advocacy skills.
