We are excited to offer this position for the first time in many years. A great opportunity for a dedicated individual to drive the business forward.

The  GPO stands as a market leader in casual dining in Rosebud and is well respected on the Peninsula. We have a capacity of 130+ seats inside and 50 outside. We pride ourselves on fantastic casual food in a relaxed and unpretentious environment. We have recently refurbished and rebranded and revived this great business and are experiencing an aggressive upward trend in growth and now require a great Head chef to maximise growth and profitability whilst ensuring our product, culture and customer experience is first class.

We  are pitched at the food savvy clientele that funnel through the area each weekend whilst exploring the great vineyards and restaurants of Red Hill and surrounds, the many world class golf courses in the area and the Peninsula Hot Springs

7 Days Lunch and Dinner with Breakfast on the weekends and every day from Cup weekend through Easter.

We have a youthful crew and you will form part of our management team with FOH manager and Supervisor whilst been directly accountable to the owner who works within the business.

Job tasks and responsibilities

We are looking for a chef with great skill, flare, organisation. The position is “hands on” so clipboard maestros need not apply.

  • Directly supervises and trains the whole kitchen and insists on best possible culture.
  • Ensures product from suppliers to guest is at highest standards and best price
  • Ensuring labour sales and food cost budgets are met.
  • Maintaining immaculate hygiene in the kitchen
  • Evolves menus regularly including function menus.
  • A great communicator with both suppliers, FOH, management and guests.

Skills and experience

The successful applicant will be fully qualified with at least a few years experience in a similar role.  They will be versatile, well presented and hungry to achieve great things together. Great communication skills even under pressure are expected and personal presentation will reflect your professional approach to Hospitality.
