The Peninsula School is the preeminent K-12 independent co-educational school located on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, just 40 minutes from Melbourne. We are a leader in the field of Positive Education and develop our staff through an innovative, progressive and forward thinking workplace culture.

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to the role of Head of Mathematics, to commence in Term One, 2017.

Mathematics is a thriving subject at The Peninsula School with almost all students undertaking at least one mathematics subject through to Year 12.  Our students excel in Specialist Mathematics, Mathematical Methods and Further Mathematics.

The successful applicant will:

  • have the ability to lead and inspire a team of Mathematics teaching professionals.
  • demonstrate advanced technology skills in relation to the teaching of mathematics.
  • be experienced in Mathematics Curriculum Design.
  • be an exemplary and innovative classroom practitioner with experience teaching VCE Mathematics.  The ability to teach Unit 3 and 4 Specialist Mathematics will be highly regarded.
  • take an innovative and creative approach to the teaching Mathematics.
  • enjoy working as part of a collaborative teaching team
  • have the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents and colleagues
  • use contemporary pedagogies in their classroom practice and be able to demonstrate the impact of these on student learning
  • demonstrate a reflective approach to their own practice and a proactive interest in their professional growth as a teacher

The successful candidate will be an energiser, able to positively influence the work of colleagues and students.

The successful applicant will be appointed to an ongoing teaching role.  The appointment to the Head of Department position will be for an initial three-year period. Further information relating to the terms & conditions of this appointment will be discussed at interview.
