The Mornington Peninsula is located just over an hour’s drive away from Melbourne CBD and is often described as the city’s playground. It is the most popular informal recreation area in Victoria.

Recent organisational change has led to the need for a highly experienced governance professional to join the organisation in a key senior leadership role, providing vital support to the Council, CEO and Executive team.

We are seeking an experienced leader who is strategically minded, has a sound legal understanding and is able to help drive a culture of performance. An engaging and motivational manager, your ability to build strong relationships will be of paramount importance, with demonstrated experience in leading staff through a period of change. With exceptional skills in the Governance space, preferably in Local Government and a strong compliance focus, you will play a key role in shaping the Shire’s operations.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this position will see you take responsibility for:

• Managing a cross disciplinary team including governance, corporate compliance and complaints management, ensuring Council operates in an open, accountable and effective way

• Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, leading service and business innovations across the organisation

• Providing high quality strategic, legislative, regulatory and operational advice and direction
