Job Description

Our client, part of a larger group is conveniently located on the Mornington Peninsula in the suburb of Mornington. This fantastic venue with a bistro open 7 days a week also boasts a sports bar and modern function space.

Reporting directly to the Head Chef, you will play a key role in ensuring a smooth kitchen operation. You should capable of managing food costs, stock levels and ordering as required. You should have previous experience with rostering to meet the needs of the business. You will be required to supervise the kitchen brigade, and be a team player and willing to train and develop your staff. There will be an opportunity to work with the Head Chef to further develop the menu, so a knowledge and passion for food and food trends would be advantageous.

As the successful candidate you will demonstrate:

  • Applicable trade qualifications and accreditations
  • Minimum 5 years’ kitchen experience, preferably within a similar environment
  • Ability to plate up high quality, creative food
  • Previous experience managing food costs and ordering
  • Previous experience leading a team, including rostering
  • Proficiency in all aspects of food safety, including HACCAP
  • Positive communication skills, energy and attitude
  • Certificate III in commercial cookery
