Established in 2013 Tissue Culture Australia is a 3rd generation family-run business. Tissue Culture Australia is Australia’s largest Tissue Culture production facility, producing more than 10 million quality plantlets annually. Tissue Culture Australia is located at the gateway of the Mornington Peninsula, in Skye and is based on the same site as sister business Mansfield’s Propagation Nursery. The business has a focus on quality grown plantlets with industry leading customer service to match. This lab facility has the reputation for producing high quality plants for Australian and worldwide markets.

THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

The purpose of the Media Team Coordinator is to work with and lead a small team in the preparation of chemical plant media in our sterile laboratory. Reporting to the supervisor you will oversee, perform, and help administer all aspects of the day-to-day plant media preparation to meet scheduled orders.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Having a strong understanding of all processes involved in plant media production including the safe handling of chemicals
Learning how to operate all equipment and troubleshoot when problems arise
Following correct aseptic processes
Strictly following OH&S processes especially when using chemicals and autoclaves
Setting up a weekly plan for media production and job lists and communicate the daily plan with media team to achieve weekly targets according to production schedule.
Performing required administration duties including reporting, chemical stocktake and ordering supplies
Having a flexible attitude with a willingness to adapt quickly as production needs change
Delivering the media production plan on time, with the ability to calmly work under pressure and to deadlines
Supervising, supporting, and leading a small team of people to work efficiently and accurately whilst maintaining high quality standards

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE YOU WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING

Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with others
Knowledge and understanding of horticulture or manufacturing facility
Have excellent time management and communication skills
Understanding of technology & chemistry is highly regarded but not essential
The hours of work are 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Plus, one Saturday per month
Tissue Culture Aust is based in Skye, Victoria, with limited public transport access, it is advised you have reliable transport
